Meet the artist.

Hello there! thanks for stopping by. I'm Robert, but professionally I go by Rob Alba, a blend of my surnames Alvarez and Balan. I'm a multidisciplinary graphic designer, born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1986. My childhood was filled with memories of watching Karate Kid, Thundercats, trading Mad Balls cards, frequenting Blockbuster, devouring burgers, hanging out with friends, and spending countless hours listening to Queen's News of The World on my mom's old vinyl record player. I believe that pop culture was the torch that ignited my curiosity about art, graphics, music, and the power of visual storytelling.

My journey as a graphic designer began in in-house marketing studios, where I discovered the wonders of traditional graphic design. However, it was branding that truly captured my attention—a field I continue to practice in to this day. visual storytelling.

As my curiosity about the creative world grew, I ventured into other areas, such as fashion design. This journey began when I startedworking in-house at Levi Strauss. I also delved into the visual merchandising world, working in-house at Sony and Adidas.
One of my mottos is to always learn something new no matter what. After honing my skills in graphic design, fashion design, and visual merchandising, I set my sights on my next goal: environmental graphic design.

In 2017, I joined the Art & Graphics team at WeWork, and what a rollercoaster it was! We embarked on the thrilling journey of establishing new markets from scratch across Latin America, traveling all around the world. Along the way, I had the opportunity to meet artists, immerse myself in new cultures, and engage in a wide range of creative projects. From painting murals and large canvases to designing neons, rugs, wallpapers, and even sculptures, every day brought a new and exciting challenge.

Rest assured, it was one of those experiences you want to have at least once in your life. However, the bubble eventually burst, and WeWork started collapsing fast. I highly recommend watching 'WeCrashed' on Hulu; Jared Leto does a killer Adam Neumann.

As WeWork started crumbling, I witnessed many coworkers being laid off, and the future became increasingly uncertain. Then, COVID crashed the party, and that was the end of my WeWork adventures.

With all my skills honed and ready to put to the test, I decided it was time to fly solo. Since I quite WeWork, I've been running my own studio, focusing on what I love most: lettering and font making. However, I also make room for traditional graphic design, art direction, and branding. And when I need a break from the digital world, I enjoy painting canvases and occasionally working on murals.
